  32. I was thinking of the CG literature, where treatment of alpha channels
  33. and matte techniques tends to wander off into the arcana of Boolean
  34. algebra rather than attack the messy qualitative details of compositing.
  35. You're right:  it's important, powerful and used all the time, but the
  36. literature doesn't really reflect this, and I think that's because it's
  37. a subject that crosses disciplines, and because, as Mark suggested,
  38. some of the methods being used now are proprietary.
